Dear Ride Drive,

Having slave-started a 1995 Chimaera the process has blown the 100amp alternator fuse mounted on the chassis rail as well as the radio fuse.  Now when I switch on the lights they will not switch off again, unless I turn the rear fog lights on and then off.  I am wondering if there is something like a dim-dip light relay that might have been damaged, but cannot pinpoint the problem exactly.  Any ideas?

Hi Pete,

Sounds like the power spike may have blown the dash control unit.  Either that or the wiring to it was disturbed when the radio fuse replaced.  The control unit is situated to the left of the radio behind the lower part of the dash.  To provide an accurate diagnosis the car would need to be examined by a qualified technician.

Good luck,
