The Ride Drive Advanced Instructor’s Course is a comprehensive training programme that has been accredited as a National Framework Level-4 qualification.  This means that those who are successful in completing the course will be awarded a nationally recognised qualification that represents the completion of the highest-level instructor training programme available within the UK for those wishing to work within the advanced driver training field.

Far from being rigid in its structure, the course can be tailored to individual needs and to a range of application requirements, making it a very flexible and durable training option.

The course has a learning period of 100-hours and is made up of observed and directed training programmes, together with personal study and research periods.  This means that a proportion of the work can be managed so as to fit around your existing commitments, giving you that all-important degree of flexibility and control to develop the required skills without it taking over your whole life.

Throughout the training period you will learn the required teaching skills in both the classroom and practical training environments, to equip you with the ability to ensure those who receive your training will always gain the most benefit from their contact with you.  As well as understanding how to train drivers to perform to an advanced level in practical terms you will encouraged to consider how to design and set-up a classroom environment, and why it is necessary to plan and to prepare carefully prior to the delivery of any training session, whether it be a practical or theory scenario.  For example, there will be the requirement for you to learn how to develop and apply safety briefings and to understand how to ensure that your lesson plans are always appropriate to the purpose to which they are applied.

It is seen as vitally important that you develop the ability to accurately assess the ability in others to absorb and to process information, as well as to encourage compliance with direction and guidance.  The progress you make will be enhanced by the experience and expertise of your course tutors who will keep a watchful eye on you whilst you deliver your training programme to make sure you achieve your full potential.

Overall, the course comprises of what are realistically achievable learning outcomes through a programme of personal development and assessment, and is structured to deliver the very best opportunity for those who aspire to work within the advanced driver training field to reach their personal goals.  In short, the course will make sure that when you come to deliver your training for real that you do so to the highest of standards and are properly equipped for the task.

It should be noted that the course does rely upon previous experience and knowledge of approved advanced driving methods, and those who are intent upon sitting the Ride Drive Level-4 Advanced Instructor’s Course are advised to approach it from having successfully completed the Ride Drive National Framework Level-3 Course, this being The Complete Advanced Driving Course.

All Ride Drive advanced driving courses are priced at a rate that is based upon the candidate providing the appropriate vehicle in which to complete the training and covering the vehicle running costs. All candidates will be responsible for providing their own over-night accommodation where appropriate, and payment for meals and other refreshments.

Please Note - The Ride Drive Level-4 Advanced Instructor Training Course does not provide a DSA ADI qualification. Those wishing to qualify as an approved driving instructor under the ADI system will have to do so independantly. Please visit the Transport Office Website for further details.
