Adrian Flux⁄Ride Drive Motor Insurance Discount Scheme FAQ |

Q – I wish that I had known about your motor insurance discount scheme a month ago, as I have only just renewed my car insurance cover. A – It doesn’t matter, as the Ride Drive certificate has no expiry date. If you complete the advanced driving course now, and you are successful in being assessed as a low level of risk, you can keep your certificate until next year and then use it. In the meantime, as a result of the advanced driving course, you will get a lot more fulfilment from your road driving and be far less at risk from being involved in a road traffic collision. That is good insurance in itself! Q – How long is this motor insurance discount scheme going to go on for? In my experience offers like this only go on for about a year, if you’re lucky. A – The motor insurance discount scheme, as brought about through collaboration between Ride Drive and Adrian Flux Insurance Services, has been running since February 2007 and is gaining momentum all the time. It has been so successful that neither Ride Drive nor Adrian Flux Insurance Services have any plans to discontinue it. Q – Does it cost any extra to have the driver risk assessment done to get on the motor insurance discount scheme? A – There is an admin fee of £15+VAT, but even though you may have asked for the driver risk assessment process to be completed, if we are not prepared to grade you as being a low risk driver or motorcyclist, the admin fee will not be charged. You will only be asked to pay for the driver risk assessment if we are happy to issue our certificate, whereupon you will be invoiced for this process separately, and after the assessment has been completed. |

Q – I did my full–day advanced driving course with Ride Drive 3–days ago, and I didn’t think it was worth going for the driver risk assessment at that time. I now realise this was a mistake, but can I still have the driver risk assessment completed and the certificate sent to me so I can take advantage of the motor insurance discount with Adrian Flux? A – If the member of the Ride Drive team who delivered the advanced driving course for you is happy that you represent a sufficiently low level of risk as a driver, and where the training was completed such a short time ago, then you may have the procedure completed retrospectively. However, the cost of such a process will be £25.00+VAT, instead of £15+VAT, as the paperwork will now have to be completed during time beyond the span of your advanced driving course. Q – I have only just realised that Ride Drive has this car insurance discount scheme available, but I don’t think it was operating when I did my advanced driving course, which was many years ago. Can I have some form of proof that I completed the day and that I attained the acquired standard please? A – To ask the member of the Ride Drive team to comment upon your level of driving skill years late is unfair, and not something that we will consider. However, whilst the rules of the discount insurance discount scheme require customers wishing to take advantage of the scheme from Adrian Flux Insurance Services have to complete their Ride Drive advanced driving course, or advanced motorcycle rider training, that consists of 8–hours or more, under these circumstances we will allow returning customers to complete a minimum session time of 4–hours. This will be upon the grounds the driver risk assessment session is completed within 3–years of the initial session, and the initial advanced driving course was of 8–hours or more. Q – I have only just become aware of the special motor insurance discount scheme, but my existing policy expires in 5–days. Have I missed my chance this year to get the discount? A – No, not at all. Just call Adrian Flux Insurance Services and get your quote based upon your acquisition of a Ride Drive advanced driving course certificate and Adrian Flux will sell you the policy based upon you being assessed as a low risk driver. If you accept the deal they will issue a cover note and allow you up to 6–weeks to complete the Ride Drive advanced driving course and driver risk assessment. Q – When you say the motor insurance discount is up to 20%, how do I know that if I sign up for this I am going to get a decent discount? Up to 20% could mean only 2% – or even less. A – The reason the wording, "Up to 20% discount," has been used is because discount is calculated prior to the addition of insurance premium tax. This can mean the price you actually pay for the insurance will not be a full 20% less than the full price for policy renewal, as quoted by your existing insurance provider. There are also varitions in costs associated with providing you with motor insurance cover, and whilst Adrian Flux Insurance Services will do their best to give you the full 20% off, it has to be accepted there will be occasions where this is not possible. The best advice is to always enquire with Adrian Flux beforehand, to understand just what you will get in terms of a discounted premium. Hopefully this has made the position clear. Q – How do I know if Adrian Flux Insurance Services is trustworthy as a motor insurance company? I have not heard of them before. A – Well, for a start, Adrian Flux Insurance Services is not an insurance company, it is a form of broker — and a very big one at that. Adrian Flux Insurance Services sell insurance products supplied by a selection of over 40–insurance companies, known as underwriters, choosing for you the one that offers the best terms for your particular needs and the vehicle you wish to cover. All of those insurance companies back the Ride Drive⁄pAdrian Flux scheme and that is why you can get the discount. We have heard from a number of customers how they bought their motor insurance cover through Adrian Flux, under the terms of the motor insurance discount scheme, and found the company their new policy was issued by was the same as the one they had already been with. This happens quite a few times. Q – What happens if my car is already insured through Adrian Flux Insurance Services? A – You still get the same advantages of the motor insurance discount scheme as those who were previously insured through another provider. Q – I have recently made a claim against my policy on account of a small collision. I suppose that means I will not be accepted onto this motor insurance discount scheme? A – The fact you have already made a claim against your own policy, as a result of a blameworthy Road Traffic Collision, will not preclude you from taking advantage of the Adrian Flux⁄Ride Drive motor insurance discount scheme. You were involved in the road traffic collision before you completed the advanced driving course, and the fact you were involved in that Road Traffic Collision beforehand was perhaps a symptom of your initial level of training. As we have pointed out on these pages, advanced driving courses, or advanced motorcycle rider training, will provide you with a greater level of skill and will significantly reduce the risk of you being involved in a Road Traffic Collision. It is the level of skill you have developed during your Ride Drive advanced driving course that your driver risk assessment is based upon. In other words, that Road Traffic Collision may well not have happened had you been trained as an advanced driver. Q – I tried to get my insurance through your scheme, and after doing the course, and paid the £15.00 admin fee, but found I could get my car insurance cheaper elsewhere. A – You have to understand that Adrian Flux only calculate your rate of discount against the figure quoted by your existing motor insurance provider for the renewal of your outgoing policy. You can’t expect to be able to phone around a number of motor insurance providers, get the cheapest quote, and then have Adrian Flux discount your best offer by 20%. The best advice that anyone can give to you is, before you embark upon the Adrian Flux⁄Ride Drive motor insurance discount scheme, investigate the market to see if this option is the best one for you. Always ask Adrian Flux for a quote based upon you successfully completing a driver risk assessment so you will understand what the offer will mean to you. Q – Whilst I drive a car, I also have a motorcycle. If I complete one of your courses in the car, and have the driver risk assessment, will that also give me the discount for my bike? A – Car driving and motorcycle riding require many different skills, so the short answer is that you will need to complete a Ride Drive course listed as being accepted by the motor insurance discount scheme (or motorcycle) in both a car and then on a bike to claim your discount for both vehicle types. Q – If I do the driver risk assessment, and I am declared as being a low level of risk, and I then buy car insurance cover through Adrian Flux with the 20% discount, what happens when that policy runs out? I suppose the policy renewal cost will then shoot up through the roof and I will be paying though the nose? A – No, that won’t happen. Once you have been accepted onto the motor insurance discount scheme as a low risk driver you will be counted as a preferred customer. Providing you do not make a claim made against your policy, you will remain on a special rate for the life of your association with Adrian Flux Insurance Services. However, this does not mean you get another 20% off for each year you remain with Adrian Flux. Q – Why can’t I complete the Ride Drive advanced driving course and then just get discount car insurance through my existing insurance company? A – You can stay with your existing car insurance provider, and you can ask that company to give you a discount based upon your successful completion of a Ride Drive advanced driving course, or advanced motorcycle riding course. However, we cannot guarantee that provider will take any notice of your training. You may have read elsewhere on these pages that it has taken Ride Drive 10–years of hounding motor insurance providers to get this fantastic deal. Along the way it was found that some insurers take no notice of a person’s level of driver or rider training.
