My idea was that advanced drivers and should be rewarded with a significant discount against the cost of their motor insurance premiums, purely because their risk of making a claim was significantly less than the untrained driver.
I have to say I found that journey to be thoroughly frustrating, as for a long time I just couldn’t seem to make progress. Yes I received offers of a small discount percentage here and there, and whilst this is not said with any disrespect to those involved, it was nowhere near a level that I had in mind, or thought such a scheme deserved.
I was after a proper rate of motor insurance discount
and wasn’t going to rest until I got it
The figures I was being offered were at a level that any motorist could achieve, just by haggling on the phone at the point of enquiry. No, what I was after was a proper discount, but that did not seem to be forthcoming.
I began to think perhaps my understanding of how the motor insurance industry worked was somehow off target, and there was some vital point that eluded my comprehension, which prevented these organisations from properly recognising the low Road Traffic Collision risk associated with advanced driver training.
Insurers Seemed Quite Happy Just to Hike up Premiums
My simplistic view of the motor insurance world was that if you have a few thousand people who each buy a motor insurance policy, and none of them make a claim against that policy, that is a good situation. That means all the money you have taken from those people in the form of premiums, and after you have paid out wages, business running costs and other expenses, the amount left over becomes your company profit.
If people make claims that is bad, because that eats into what would have been a profit, so as a motor insurance provider, you lose money. That does not seem to make sense to the general motor insurance industry, and I was beginning to get the idea they were actually quite content with customers making claims, because the situation provided an excuse to hike up prices of premiums. Yes, I found the whole thing completely bewildering.
Adrian Flux – A Motor Insurance Provider Living in The Real World
When I became involved with Adrian Flux Insurance Services in December 2006, I was delighted to find that I had found a motor insurance provider that lived in the real world. Here was an organisation living in the real world and was capable of thinking outside the institutional box.
The more involved I became the more I liked the way these people operated. I found they are innovative, had modern ideas, and above all else they had a realistic approach to motor insurance, or at least one that I could understand.
People like to enjoy their cars and motorcycles,
and that is what real people do
Adrian Flux Insurance seem to take the same attitude towards the insurance business as I take towards car and motorcycle ownership. People like to enjoy their cars and motorcycles, and that is what real people do, but if they can do that in a manner that doesn’t involve Road Traffic Collisions, that is good for everyone. Adrian Flux Insurance Services appreciate this and has embraced the concept of helping people have responsible fun on the road.
When I met with Craig Darwin of the management team at the Adrian Flux Insurance headquarters near Kings Lynn in early in 2007, he announced to me that providing Ride Drive could assure Adrian Flux Insurance Services that car drivers and motorcyclists undertaking Ride Drive advanced driver training actually did represent a very low level of motor insurance claim risk, Adrian Flux Insurance Services would discount Ride Drive customer premiums by 25%. However, in year 2010, this had to be reduced to 20% due to rising administration costs.
That being the case, Adrian Flux Insurance Services would maintain the heavily discounted rate of premium for each individual policy holder, year on year, for as long as they did not make a claim. This meant that anyone who completed a driver risk assessment as a low risk, providing they remained with Adrian Flux Insurance and never made a claim against their own policy, they would continue to benefit from the scheme for life.
Adrian Flux Endorse Ride Drive Advanced Driver Training
What you read above is the deal we still have today and I thank Adrian Flux Insurance Services, and in particular I thank Craig Darwin of the Adrian Flux management team, for the confidence that has been shown in Ride Drive advanced driver training. The fact Adrian Flux endorse the concept that advanced driver training will significantly reduce motor insurance claims, as well as advanced motorcycle rider training, makes Adrian Flux Insurance Services a leader in their field.
The scheme that Ride Drive and Adrian Flux have launched together I am sure will not only be very popular, but will also be a great success. I am looking forward to working with this company as a long term partnership, as I believe the future for both, and for our respective customers, is very bright indeed.
