It has long been argued, as well as proved, that drivers and motorcyclists who have received advanced driver training, or advanced motorcycle rider training, present a much smaller risk of being involved in a road traffic collision.

This is when compared to those who have not had additional driver training beyond the test. However, this fact has never in the past been fully appreciated by motor insurance providers – that is until Ride Drive got involved.

It is announced today that as well as developing their road skills behind the wheel of a car, or on a bike, the Ride Drive customer can now gain recognition for their advanced driver training, thanks to a unique motor insurance discount scheme.

Developed as a result of collaboration between Ride Drive and Adrian Flux Insurance Services, those who successfully complete a driver risk assessment process as part of selected Ride Drive advanced driver training courses will be afforded a saving of as much as 20% from the cost from renewing their motor insurance policy.

Julian Smith, Managing Director at Ride Drive, explains, "For years I have been relentlessly knocking on motor insurance company doors, trying to find one to accept that developing driving skills to an advanced level equates to a significantly reduced risk of insurance claims from Road Traffic Collisions."

He continues, "I wanted one that would be prepared to substantially reward those who voluntarily develop their skills to an advanced level with a substantial discount against the cost of their car or motorcycle insurance premiums.

No doubt some will view this with scepticism, thinking there is some hidden catch, or the scheme isn’t as good as it looks, but they will be wrong. "We want this to be totally transparent," says Darwin. "If we can build up a pool of customers who are not making claims that will be the great success we are hoping for, and if it works, it means we may be able to afford to reduce annual premiums even more for those who support the scheme.

Anyone who transfers their motor insurance cover to Adrian Flux, and their driver risk assessment by Ride Drive shows then to be a substantially low level of Road Traffic Collision risk, Adrian Flux will maintain a special discounted rate for that customer year on year. However, that will be dependent upon the individual not making any claim against their own policy."
